Brilliant first steps.....yah

So, here we are two days into the Barak Obama administration and to be honest, I am less than impressed. I mean, the world hasn't suddenly become peaceful and prosperous because of the ascension of the Obamessiah, no miracles have taken place, the US has not become loved by all around the world, in short, today is not a whole heck of a lot different that Monday was.
 
Okay, dispensing with the crushing disappointment I should be feeling, let's look at the important first steps of our President. First, he rescinded the executive order that Bush had issued in regards to prohibiting tax payer funded foreign aid being used for abortions overseas. Yeah, I can't think of a single thing going on right now that rates up there for me with paying for abortions in other countries, Good call on priority one! Second, Obama signs the order closing Guantanamo within the year and prohibiting many forms of interrogation, Woo Hoo, let's all celebrate another good call there, but ya know, let's just keep this one tucked away in case of another terrorist attack, so we remember exactly who to thank for being soft and making life better for the poor demented killers.
 
Now let's see what's next on the agenda, oh yeah, getting rid of "Don't ask, don't tell". Man, incredible nailing another critical issue facing our nation, at least it must be a critical issue for someone, probably that San Francisco crowd that Obama was sipping wine with and complaining about the rest of us clinging to our guns and God. It's a good thing the economy is doing well, and we have no re-emerging threats from Russia to go along with the on-going issues with Venezuela, Iran and North Korea. We are such a blessed country that our new Great Leader can concentrate on the important things. What's next, well, I am guessing it may be Global Warming, and the Obamessiah will enact the democrats proposal to tax farmers for their cattle farting!

Global Warming is freezing me out!

If we get much more global warming here in Petoskey I am going to have to shovel the snow away from my outdoor thermometer so I can see how far below zero we are!
 
Even as a huge part of the country is in the deep freeze and getting buried under record snowfall, our President-elect has stacked the deck in his cabinet with global warming devotees. Come on, is it really that hard to take a look out the window and see it for yourselves, this is not global warming!!!!! Of course, I also want to give a verbal slap to our Russian expert friends, who have now jumped off the global warming bandwagon and are trumpeting the news that we are now on the brink of a new ice age. For crying out loud, does anyone live in the land of reality anymore, or is everyone residing on one side or the other of the disaster extremes!
 
Look around you, and then take just a few moments and look back at some temperature, rainfall, snowfall, etc., types of historal info for your area. You know what you are going to find, we are not in the warmest, or coldest time that has been experienced, and depending if you want to be honest, we are not really in a sustained warming or cooling cycle. It goes back and forth and it has for as long as anyone has been keeping track.
 
My suspicion is, and please believe me, I am not a conspiracy nut, that there are a lot of people out there who made some serious money on the whole Y2K disaster scenario, and got involved in the global warming thing to score some more before it too gets exposed as a giant hoax. The bad thing for the rest of us is that the bloodsuckers could only profit off of us for a relatively short time before, due to Y2K expiration date, however, with this global warming thing, they are going to ride this horse to death, or at least until enough of us get sick and tired of the game and refuse to play anymore. Unfortuneately, by that time, we may have nearly bankrupted ourselves, as we pay outrageous amounts to finance the "Green" movement. By the way, does anyone recall where we first heard this whole "green" term, yeah, it was in relation to the whacko, liberal-enviro political party, remember we all enjoyed a good laugh about their loony suggested policies and wing-nut candidates. Well, guess what, they have repackaged themselves and are back, and the joke's on us, they helped get Obama elected and now are going to drive the global warming craziness right down our throats!
 
The way to fight back? Well, first let's try some common sense, as I said before, look out the window! Second, speak up and take a stand and point out the idiocy of these lunatics, the sooner this is exposed for what it is, the sooner we call all move on to the next grand hoax!

The Blame Game......and so it begins....

Here we go, with the handwriting on the wall, the knives are already out and Sarah Palin is the prime target. Naturally Democrats are leading the way in charging that Gov. Palin is the prime reason for McCain's loss, even placing her ahead of their normal target George W. Bush. What is more troubling is that there are already conservative voices out there who are piling on and driving the knife into Gov. Palin's back.
 
 I can't stand by and allow this without making a few observations. Only in the last couple of weeks was Sarah Palin allowed to be Sarah Palin, and guess what, as soon as the handlers were pushed out of the way and she was turned loose, suddenly the media lost interest in her. No surprise there, they only wanted to talk about her when she was held down as a  punching bag, not when she was doing the punching. When she was stuck in front of MSM tools like Katie Couric and allowed to be the target of "gotcha" questions and lots of editing, it was fun for the media. But, when Sarah was out amongst the people, showing her intelligence and ability to relate to us non-elitist types, her strengths in fighting for ethics in government and common sense energy policy, she was no longer someone the Obamatron attack dogs wanted to talk about.
 
Had the McCain campaign not mishandled Gov. Palin, she would have been an even greater asset to the team. Mistakes were made in this campaign, mainly along the lines of trying to make John McCain into something he was not. McCain's strength has always been in his position as a Maverick, and yet for far too long in this campaign, his handlers made him a panderer to the far-right, born-again wing of the party. McCain returned to his maverick roots, with the help of Sarah Palin, far too late. By the time he returned to his strength, it was too late to woo the moderate Democrats, Independents and the broader moderate base of the Republican party. That is where the blame belongs, not place on the shoulders of Sarah Palin, who should be warmly embraced as the future of the GOP.

What will tommorrow bring?

As I await the outcome of today's election, I know that millions of others share the anxiety that I am feeling. Those of us who are conservative, who believe in our Constitution, who cherish the country that Ronald Reagan loved, will we be forced to live as second class citizens under the reign of a socialist who despises us for what we hold dear? Will the radical left achieve total control of our government, destroying the United States of our founding fathers and replacing it with the United Socialist States?
 
I cannot and will not attempt to defend the Republicans who held control of Congress for the first 6 years of President Bush's tenure. I agree with those people who say the Republicans squandered the opportunity to accomplish anything. They submitted to the Democrats at every turn, many times failing to support their president. Many of these Senators and Congresspeople deserve to be unseated, but not at the cost of giving control to these liberals who dithered while the energy crisis grew, and while the economy tanked. The Democrats have the dirtiest of hands in the mortgage mess, and yet the Republicans stand by and allow themselves to be painted at fault.
 
Obama has proven over and over again that he cannot be believed or trusted. His supporters cannot name a single thing that he has accomplished, nor can they give an example of anything that qualifies him to be president. He has kept company with bottom of the barrel people, people who have professed to hate our country. He has been clear on what he wants, to "spread the wealth", to attack our Constitution, to bring socialism to our great nation. His supporters see no problem with this, they find no fault with his lack of character. It is unbelievable that this comes from the same people who have spent 8 years savaging the good and decent man who has been our President.
 
John McCain may not be the ideal conservative, but he too is a good and decent man. A man who is qualified and experienced and ready to be our president. He would defend our Constitution, support our troops, and protect our country. He has already put us on a footing for the future, selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate. By choosing Palin, he has ushered in a new era for the GOP, an era that will give us the leadership of Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, JC Watts and will provide a chance for conservatives and independents to once again stand tall and ensure a bright future for our children. I hold out hope that when the polls close it will be McCain/Palin who are on top.I hope that this is what tommorrow brings.
 
If not, if we must deal with President Obama, then I ask all conservatives out there to immediately mobilize. We must begin right away to lay the foundation for a victory in Congress in 2010, and to take back the White House in 2012. Begin the fight to put good true conservatives in the House in 2010, and start early in working for victory in 2012. As for me, if I don't have President McCain to support for the next 4 years, then I will be working hard for a Palin/Jindal ticket!

Even My Mom Is Voting For McCain/Palin

I grew up in a home with a politically lackadaisical Dad and a staunchly Democrat Mom, and yet somehow, and I suspect my paternal grandmother had something to do with it, I have always leaned to the conservative. The first presidential election in which I could vote was Reagan vs. Mondale, though I had been an enthusiastic Reagan supporter in 1980! When 1984 came around and I could finally pull the lever, I was proudly preparing to serve in the U.S. Army, proud because I would be serving under a Commander in Chief  that I believed in. I pulled that lever for Ronald Reagan and made sure my Mom knew it. She had been a Carter supporter, and was one of the few Mondale supporters that I ever met!
 
I happily watched her candidate go down in flames when George H.W. Bush beat Dukakis, and then had to suffer while she gloated when Clinton beat Bush four years later. I suffered through Bob Dole's loss, but then in 2000, after some disappointment with McCain's primary loss, I was able to reclaim the high ground with George W. Bush's victory.
 
These last eight years of our political rivalry have been rough. She being an ardent Bush hater, and my stalwart defense of my president have led to more than a few heated arguments. This was especially hard for me, since I had come to realize that I was much more of a conservative than I was Republican. As this year's election drew closer, I even found myself flirting with the idea of moving my affiliation to Independent. Once a strong supporter of John McCain, I had been somewhat dismayed by him in the intervening years, and yet he still seemed the best of array of candidates fielded by the Republicans. I had made my peace with having to vote against a Democrat instead of for a candidate I truly believed in. Then, after McCain had secured the nomination, I began to look at potential running mates. After much review, I discovered Governor Palin, and found the candidate I could get excited about. My wife and I both looked at everything we could find on Sarah Palin, and the more we learned, the more we hoped she might get the nod. I shared these things with my Mom a couple months ago in a conversation I was sure she would never remember.
 
Then, on the day that John McCain announced Governor Palin as his choice, my Mom called. She had listened to Sarah Palin speak and she wanted to know if that was the same person I had mentioned before. I told her that it was and she commented that it looked like I had made the right pick. Now, following Governor Palin's convention speech, and the speech of Senator McCain, I got a call that I thought I would never get. My Mom, the fan of Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore and Kerry, was calling to tell me that she was going to vote for McCain/Palin. She said she had listened to her party's candidates and compared to McCain/Palin they seemed to be offering only the promise of higher taxes and no ability to protect our country. The world seems brighter today, I can see that The One is not inevitable, because even my Mom is voting for McCain/Palin!

Congratulations Bristol Palin

Congratulations Bristol Palin, on the upcoming arrival of your little bundle of joy! I pass along best wishes for your future and the future of your child, and also my regrets that this moment in your life has been invaded by the world. While it can be argued that your mother's political involvement opened the door to the scrutiny of your life, I disagree. I find myself angered by the invasion of your policy, as angry as I would be if this same treatment was given to Sasha and Malia Obama. I never believed that the media should have attacked Chelsea Clinton, nor Jenna and Barbara Bush. Really, when you think about it, unless the child of a candidate has done something heinously illegal, does the public need to know more than their names?
 
Those people that argue that the decision of the parents to enter an election, creates an "open season" environment, I say to you that you are utterly wrong. I can agree that in many instances the spouse of the candidate, from whichever side, steps onto the stage of their own choice, but the same cannot be said for the children.
 
While we apparently have reached a point where the right and left in this country are unable to respectfully disagree, where everything must be an attack, perhaps we should take a collective breath and try very hard to reach agreement on one single item. That item would be simple, the children of our political candidates must be off-limits, their privacy must be protected and respected. Maybe this one act of civility can be the first step back towards behavior more representative of the American people.
 
So, congratulations Bristol, and now we will pull our noses back out of your life, and say that we are sorry that we forced you to share this with us.

They Really Are Serious!

  Starting off the morning with my wife, we scanned various blogs and were reading posts back and forth to each other. As we went along, we began with laughter, and soon were looking at each other in disbelief. I mean, I am getting ready to identify some of my fellow Americans as ignorant, so I don't wish to appear that way myself, but...I guess I am always able to be astounded by the level of ignorance and stupidity that the liberal leaning side of our society is capable of. There was a post making the ridiculous claim that John McCain had chosen Sarah Palin, "so that he could get in her pants, and who would blame him". For crying out loud, the person writing that piece of nonsense cannot be capable of an ounce of clear thought. They call her a zealot, they jab at her with the fascist label, and I have to shout...PUT DOWN THE MARIJUANA CIGARETTE AND DO A LITTLE RESEARCH!
 
See now there is the real danger. After reading these notes of lunacy, I allowed myself to sink to that level and start in with the name calling and generalizing. This is exactly what we should all be trying to avoid. Having a serious discussion, and stating intelligently the positions we support or disagree with, respecting the viewpoints of our opponents,now that is how our great American society should behave!
 
Okay, that was my politically correct, touchy feely, "lets's all just get along", moment and enough of that already. I am back to reality now, and know without a doubt, a civil conversation is impossible, especially since right now, somewhere, there is a pinhead liberal blogger pounding away at his keyboard about how Sarah Palin is a hybrid human sent by the aliens to rule the world!

The Bold Choice

John McCain made what I have to say was a bold choice in picking Governor Sarah Palin for his running mate. This move got me back on board the Straight Talk Express after months of standing on the sidelines. I spent the last few months looking hard at the plethora of possibilities for the Vice Presidential slot, and after much review, I found myself most able to support Governor Palin. Sarah Palin has what the Republican party needs. She is young, intelligent, plain spoken, honest, strong in her beliefs, and not afraid to make tough decisions. She, like McCain is a maverick, not afaid to go her own way, if she believes that is what is best for the people.
 
If people will just take a little time to get to know Sarah Palin, I think everyone, who is open and honest, should be able to see that she was not just chosen because she is a woman. This woman was chosen because of what she believes and the type of leader she is, and I believe, will be. Senator McCain's choice of Governor Palin goes beyond just a running mate, it is a move to transfer the leadership of the Republican Party to the next generation, the Sarah Palin's, Bobby Jindahl's, etc. This election will allow us to, at this critical time, to have a strong leader as Commander in Chief during these next few difficult years, with a strong future leader at his side.
 
Let's support the Bold Choice, Let's support McCain/Palin
